What is Acne?
Acne is one of the world's most common skin conditions, affecting over 85% of adolescents by the age of 24 years and up to 50% of adults over 25 years of age.
Acne vulgaris is one of the world's most common skin conditions and results from obstruction, bacterial colonization and inflammation of the sebaceous follicles. The main cause of acne stems from an abnormal amount of bacteria, mainly propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), resulting in inflammatory acne.
Acne is a widespread and upsetting condition and it usually appears on the face, chest, back, and limbs. It can produce lifelong physical and emotional scarring.
In fact, acne develops when the sebaceous glands in a person's skin produce excess oil (sebum). This oil combines with cells that line the gland walls and clogs the skin's pores. Normal skin bacteria colonise these pores and the body's response causes the inflammation or reddening of the skin that we associate with acne.

2) Microdermabrasion
The process where the skin's dead surface is being abraded by very minute crystals. It is virtually painless and there are no side effects and down time. Bacteria are trapped underneath the skin's dead surface resulting in acne. Continuously renewing the skin will maintain its natural state therefore having no abnormalities. Treatments must be consistent according to the severity of the acne. This procedure is excellent to incorporate with the Omnilux to achieve faster and better results. Microdermabrasion is a well known procedure and can be used on all skin types.
What actually happens during treatment?
The skin is properly cleaned and microdermabrasion is performed all over the skin overlapping to make sure it was covered evenly. The doctor can control the depth of peel depending on the skin type. After a light "gommage" (exfoliation massage) is done and the crystals are washed off.
What to expect after treatment?
Skin may feel a bit tight after the procedure and is absolutely normal, you would be advised to moisturize at least once a day. Minor redness occurs right after treatment but disappears in a couple of hours. There is NO scarring, bleeding or blistering of the skin. After a couple of days there might be slight peeling of the skin. Be aware of sun exposure and use sunblock. Skin will gradually look clearer and smoother in between 4-6 treatments.
3) Oxyjet (anti- acne treatment)
With the use of highly concentrated products and a specially designed machine that injects oxygen and other ingredients into the skin, acne, acne scars and pigmentation resulting from acne are treated. This procedure helps to achieve cell renewal and maintains the skin's overall smoothness and texture.
What actually happens during treatment?
The skin is properly cleaned and light exfoliation is done, this makes it easier for product penetration. The appropriate product is applied on the skin and oxyjet is performed on the specified areas.
What to expect after treatment?
Skin may be slightly red after treatment but usually goes down within a couple of hours. You may experience slight dryness and light peeling. The use of sunblock is strongly advised and not to "pick" at the skin when peeling. Results can be seen within 4-6 treatments of oxyjet.
