The terms fotofacial and photofacial all essentially refer to photorejuvenation – a treatment based upon a principle of heating/ stimulating the skin’s inner layer (dermis) while cooling/ protecting the outer layer (epidermis). A wide variety of procedures and technologies are available for performing this treatment. Though they are based on the same principle, each operates bit differently.

Photorejuvenation is completely safe if performed at a reputed and established laser clinic. The procedure should be done under expert observation. With standard equipment and state of the art facilities, it is one of the safest and most effective laser based treatments.

Importantly, most patients experience minimal pain during the procedure. There are minor reactions such as redness, inflammation and slight swelling that usually disappear within a few days. Your face might look a bit flushed or red immediately after treatment. If you’re seeking the treatment to stimulate collagen growth, it may fade away sooner. Skin texture will get smoother within a few days. If the treatment is for acne, the redness may remain for several days. However, there is no need to worry as this is absolutely normal.

You have to be patient during this phase for the results to get visible. The time span for this will largely depend on the gravity of skin condition you are treating. Though results from photorejuventation are near guaranteed, it is vital to apply sunscreen. Make sure that the treated area is well protected from the sun for a couple of weeks at least.
