Here are some basic facts about spider and leg vain treatment with laser technology
- The laser component of a highly effective VascuLight system is employed to treat deeper, larger veins (for example, reticular veins). They respond to the precise wavelength and energy level of light used. The procedure is non-invasive and brief.
- The small spot of precise laser light will travel through the patient’s skin. The blood absorbs it within the vein, depending on its color. The heat clots or coagulates the blood and then destroys the function of the corresponding vein. Gradually, the vein is absorbed by the body. It disappears from sight over time.
- Many leg veins might require multiple treatment sessions, often conducted over a span of few months before the desired results are attained.
- Immediately after laser treatment, a patient’s spider veins will appear darker, starker and more visible. They gradually fade over a period of two to six weeks.
- A pulse of focused laser light may give a slight pinching feel. The pain is minimal and the procedure can be made more comfortable by blowing cool air or with chilled gel.
- There are no major changes required in daily activities, before or after laser treatment except for the fact that you are asked to limit exposure to the sun.
